Cessnock aerodrome is located in the scenic Hunter Valley renowned for its wineries, good food and climate.
Only a short drive from Sydney, Newcastle, Maitland and the Central Coast. The area hosts an abundance of accommodation and restaurants and is considered to be an ideal getaway from the busy city.

Recreational Aviation Newcastle


Recreational Aviation Newcastle operates from the Hunter Recreational Flying Club on the western side of Cessnock aerodrome.

Road access from Cessnock is from Wine Country Drive, then turn into Broke Road. Continue about 600m along Broke Road and take the first left into De Beyers Road. Continue along De Beyers Road about 1km and turn left at the T-intersection (back towards the aerodrome) into Grady Rd. Take the first (only) gate on the left, about 250m from the T-intersection, at the end of the driveway you will be in the car-park area of "Recreational Aviation Newcastle" and the "Hunter Recreational Flying club". From here Recreational Aviation Newcastle operates out of the briefing room in the HRFC club house. This complex includes the Recreational Aviation Newcastle flight briefing room, HRFC club rooms, toilets and eight aircraft hangars, housing many different recreational and GA aircraft types, well worth a visit.
